Master Class Education Centre is an international team of experienced teachers, connected by our desire to facilitate student growth and our passion for education. We have been established in Causeway Bay since 2016. Our team is here to help students achieve their goals, with an emphasis on a personalized and individual approach.

Our Team

Matthew Sin – Director

MA TESOL, TEFL, BA (Hons)

Born in London, England, Matthew has been teaching English in a variety of settings. He finished his Bachelors in English and Creative Writing in 2010 in Royal Holloway, where he studied a variety of works from Shakespeare to Victorian literature, and then obtained his Trinity Cert TESOL. He then taught English at a Middle and High School in South Korea for three years, after which he completed his Masters in TESOL from the University of Sunderland. He has since been teaching in Hong Kong in a variety of centres and settings. He brings to Master Class his expertise in IB, A-Levels, GCSE, IGCSE, Common Entrance, SAT preparation and general English improvement.

Matthew is an organized, patient and approachable teacher who has worked with children, teenagers and adults from all backgrounds and ages. He will prepare and personalize work for his students and foster their academic development. Outside of academics, he enjoys hiking, photography and travelling.

Fiona Lo – Principal

MPhil., BSc (Hons)

Fiona earned her Master of Philosophy (Chemistry) from the University of Hong Kong, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the Chinese University of Hong Kong where she was awarded Honours degree. Her research was on analytical chemistry, focused on developing a versatile liquid chromatography platform for screening and quantifying pesticides levels in food samples. She also worked as a research assistant in the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine for investigating methods of pulmonary drug delivery.

After graduation, Fiona has been working on tutoring both international and local students for more than half a decade, during which she has established a firm understanding of the very high expectations from different renowned schools and international curricula, including but not limited to IGCSE, GCSE, IB, SAT and MCAT. She teaches Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics from primary to secondary level and has worked with students with very different needs and characters

  • Celina Shum - TESOL, BSc (Hons)

    Celina was born in Dublin, Ireland; she has been teaching English and Biology in Hong Kong for over ten years to both local and international students. She graduated from Dublin University in 2011 and subsequently studied for her TEFL Certification. She has a vast range of experience to draw from, having seen her students succeed through a variety of examination boards and schools including TSA/DSE, Common Entrance Exams, IGCSEs, GCSEs, A-Levels, IBDP, SATs, IELTS. She works particularly well with younger children in helping them foster English acquisition and development.

    Celina is a bright, friendly and interactive tutor who tailors her classes to her students’ needs. Outside of her work, she enjoys art, reading, figure painting, hiking and exercising. Her favourite writers are Stephen King, Yukio Mishima, Osamu Dazai and Cecelia Ahern.  

  • Albert Chow - (Msc, BSc (Hons), PGDE)

    Albert has dedicated himself to education for the past 10 years. He has obtained his PGDE from the University of Hong Kong and IB training in IB Global Centre. Albert has always been a high achiever in academic fields, he has obtained A's in maths, additional maths, physics, chemistry, biology, history and Chinese in public examinations, graduated his bachelor degree with honour from The University of Hong Kong and did his Master Studies with the focus on Complex Analysis.  He wishes to teach students his way of learning in order to succeed in maths and science subjects. 

    He has worked in different education settings in Hong Kong before, including one on one tuition as well as classroom teaching in an international school. 

    Albert is patient, knowledgeable and open minded. In his spare time, he enjoys reading about history, literature and languages.


  • Jack Mills - (Bachelor of Economics)

    Jack received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of Calgary in Canada, specialising in microeconomics, behavioural economics and public sector finance. He has been teaching economics in Shenzhen and Hong Kong since 2017. Having worked in several prestigious tutoring centres, Jack demonstrates a clear commitment and passion towards teaching Economics at all levels and major curriculums such as IBDP, AL, AP and IGCSE. He has meticulously crafted lesson plans and tailored them for his students’ understanding. Under his guidance, students have received acceptance into prestigious programs such as the Harvard and Yale Summer Schools, Tsinghua University, and Stanford. His guidance has been instrumental in consolidating the academic profile and achievements of these students which are crucial to their university applications.

  • Edmond Lai - (BSc. Mathematics with Minor in Statistics)

    Edmond earned his mathematics degree from the University of Hong Kong; he is currently working as a research assistant in the University of Hong Kong on Chinese philosophy. He had studied in Victoria Shanghai Academy for 11 years before going to Ruthin school in Wales to complete his A-levels. He has been a private tutor for 4 years working with secondary students, mainly focusing on IB HL mathematics and A-level further and core mathematics. His teaching emphasizes understanding, helping struggling students to strengthen their foundation, guiding them step by step, deepening their understanding and enabling them to score well on their exams and get into their choice of program.

    He plans to pursue philosophy academically in the future.

  • Reine Ng - (BSc. Chemistry & Management, 1st Hon)(MSc.)

    Reine’s primary school education was with Chinese International School HK. She moved to Bangkok Patana School Thailand for her secondary education which culminated in her achieving 6A*s 3 As (Chemistry, Biology and Physics) 1 B (Art) in her IGCSEs. While at school, she was in the first group for maths so she took IGCSE maths exams in Year 10 and an additional AS Maths paper in Year 11. Reine obtained 42/45 for the IB exams including HL Chem 7 HL Econ 7 HL Maths 6 SL Bio 7 SL Chinese 7 SL Eng 6 and 2/3 for the extended essay component. She then went on to study Chemistry and Management at Imperial College London and graduated with first class honors. Additionally, she has a Master’s degree in Metals Energy Finance with a merit.

    She delivers with clarity and also understands students' needs. She is adaptive to different learning styles of students.


  • Leila Soni (PGCE in Education) (MA in Chinese Language and Literature, MA in International Negotiation)

    With over 5 years of teaching experience, Leila is passionate about guiding students on their educational journeys. She has worked at King George V as a French Educational Assistant, helping students achieve French fluency in preparation for the IB examinations. She also has ample experience in tutoring MYP, IBDP, IGCSE and A-Levels for the French and Spanish Tutors Academy. Her previous role at Austin School, as a Global Perspectives and Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE) teacher, along with teaching French as a foreign language, provided her with extensive experience in delivering the Cambridge Curriculum. In this role, she developed dynamic lessons that promoted critical thinking, personal development, and global awareness, all taught in English and French.

    Additionally, her experience teaching French at the Alliance Française in Hong Kong, with a focus on DELF programmes, has deepened her understanding of language acquisition. Leila believes in fostering an inspiring and enjoyable classroom atmosphere that motivates students to reach their full potential.

  • Sammi Tam (Bsc. Psychology, 1st Hon, PhD in Affective Neuroscience)

    Sammi earned her Bachelor of Psychology (1st Hon) from the University College London, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Affective Neuroscience from the University of Hong Kong. She is keen in data science and big data analytics and is now pursuing an MSc in Analytics from Georgia Institute of Technology. Sammi is passionate about leveraging and communicating health and clinical data to drive meaningful advancements in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental health conditions. 

    After graduating, Sammi has been working on tutoring international school students in a tutoring centre and privately for psychology. She is well-versed in the AL, AP, and IB psychology curricula, with expertise informed by both her personal exam success and her tutoring experience. Sammi focuses on helping students to translate different concepts to real use in case studies, and she is adaptive to the diverse needs, learning styles, and preferences of students utilizing effective educational tools. Sammi's friendly and clear teaching style makes her an excellent choice for students passionate about psychology.
